The Bay County School District include 21 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, 6 senior high schools, 2 special purpose schools, and 1 vocational-technical facility. The public schools are fully accredited by the Florida Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Bay County School District student body is 78.9% Caucasian, 15.6% African American, 2% Asian/Pacific Islander, 1.7% Hispanic, 0.3% American Indian and 1.6 %multiracial. Per pupil expenditures are $5,001. The School term usually begins in early August and ends in late May. The annual number of high school graduates: 1,354. Annual percent of high school graduates seeking a higher degree, is 48% and, 57% planning to attend trade/technical schools. Several of the Bay County Private Schools are affiliated with religious organizations.
